When does booking close for day trips?

BOOKING GENERALLY CLOSES AT 4:00PM THE THURSDAY BEFORE THE SCHEDULED TRIP DATE. If you are still able to book the trip after this time it means there are still seats open. If seats remain we will leave booking up until Friday afternoon but highly recommend booking before this.

Do I get a ticket in the mail?  Do I need to bring my ticket/receipt the morning of the trip?

We will not mail you anything for the one day or weekend overnight trips.  You will receive a email receipt when you purchase your trip but it is for confirmation purposes only and you do not need to bring it the morning of the trip.  When you purchase a trip your order is added to a list for the particular trip(s) you booked and we will check you in via this list the morning of the trip.  (One less thing for you to think about the morning of the trip!)

Is there parking at the pickup locations?

There is street parking near both downtown pickup locations but we recommend the Fullerton and Sheffield location if you need parking. There is more street parking at this location as well as a parking ramp directly across from our pickup location which is $12 for the entire day. The pickup location in Schaumburg is the easiest location to park. There is plenty of parking at this location for free! Please allow ample time if you plan to park at any of the pickup locations. Remember, the bus leaves on time no matter what.

Can I bring my own refreshments?

Yes, please feel free to bring your own refreshments but we ask that you be respectful of other passengers on the bus. If you bringing a cooler please limit the size so the aisle remains open. Adults may bring their own alcoholic beverages on the bus but unruly behavior will result in your removal from the bus and future trips.

What should I bring with me on the trip?

We recommend you bring your ski/snowboard gear, warm clothes, goggles and/or sunglasses, waterproof gloves, a helmet if you have one, a stocking cap, a change of clothes for the return trip, sunscreen and money/credit cards for lunch. This is not all required gear, just recommended. The most important thing to keep in mind is to dress warm! Many people also bring a book and pillow for the bus ride.Skis/snowboards must be stored in the cargo bay in both directions. Boots must be stored in the cargo bay on the return trip. Please have your equipment in bags to avoid scratches. We recommend that you label all equipment to prevent a mix up. Windy City Ski and Snowboard is not responsible or liable for any lost, stolen or damaged items.

What should I wear on the bus ride to and from the resort?

The morning ride is all about preference and the comfort of your ski/board pants. Half of our riders wear their ski/snowboard pants and half change at the resort. The resorts have coin lockers ($0.50 per use). We recommend bringing a change of clothes for the ride home. Your ski pants will most likely be wet and it's always nice to change into a pair of warm dry sweat pants!

Can I leave my belongings on the bus during the day?

Yes, you may leave your belongings on the bus but please be aware that THE BUS WILL BE LOCKED ALL DAY and you WILL NOT BE ABLE TO ACCESS YOUR ITEMS DURING THIS TIME. If you think you will need something during the day please take it with you when you exit the bus. We do not recommend leaving any valuables on the bus and please remember that Windy City Ski and Snowboard is not responsible or liable for any lost or stolen items. The resorts have coin lockers ($0.50 per use), we recommend putting valuables or anything you will need in one of these.

Can I get rentals and where do I get them?

Yes, rentals are an optional on all of our trips. Rentals are issued when we reach the resort. You will be given a rental form on the bus that will confirm that you have paid for rentals in advance. The process is usually very quick at the resorts but you can save valuable time on the mountain by renting through Viking Ski Shop ahead of time. What kind of lessons do I get through Windy City Ski and Snowboard?

Lessons paid for through Windy City Ski and Snowboard are 90 minute group taught by the resort's certified instructors. We highly recommend lessons for beginners; your experience will be much more memorable! Group sizes are typically very small.

How do I set up a Trip for my company, school, church or my large group of friends?

What kinds of movies are played and how do I vote?

Windy City Ski and Snowboard has 3 movie options for each of our standard day trips and overnight trips. The movie played for each trip is determined by voting on our Facebook fan page before each trip. When visiting fan page click on the "Movie Voting" tab at the top of the page, choose your date and vote! For those who wish to sleep on the way home, we recommend bringing ear plugs. Burton Trips feature snowboard videos and will not have voting.

What happens if the weather is stormy?

The Windy City Ski and Snowboard bus will travel whenever possible unless we deem it unsafe. If we deem it unsafe to travel prior to departure you will receive a full refund. If we have departed and a road is closed we will attempt to re-route or divert to a different resort. If we can't reach a resort we will return to the pickup locations and you receive a refund minus a small transportation fee. Bad weather is another perk of the bus; it has 10 wheels and a lot of weight! Don't miss those powder days because your car can't make it to the resort!

Can I bring my kids?

Yes but kids under 18 must be accompanied by an adult. We will ask that a separate waiver be signed on their behalf when boarding the bus.
